On July 30, 2019, the Thurmont Top Shots (pictured below), representing the American Legion Post 168, became the four-time, American Legion, National Trapshooting Champions at the AIM Grand National trapshooting competition in Sparta, Illinois.

Stephanie Kennedy of Thurmont was awarded a $1,250 National Rifle Association (NRA) Scholarship at the 2018 AIM Grand National Championship, held this summer in Sparta, Illinois.
