Thurmont Top Shots Aim High in Regional Trapshooting Competitions
Alisha Yocum
Thurmont Top Shots, a group of local youth trap shooters, recently participated in a few regional competitions. Coached by Steve Crowe and Lori Storey, this group practiced weekly throughout the spring and is supported and hosted by the Thurmont Conservation & Sportsman’s Club (TCSC).
The team recently participated in two shoots, the Pen-Mar Regional Youth Trap Shoot at the Glen Rock Shooting Club in Shrewsbury, PA, on May 10. The team, consisting of Shane Biser, Morgan Farmer, Gabriella Brauning, Eli Yocum, and Bradley Brauning, placed 2nd in the Jr. Gold Squad. Biser also received the 25 Straight Patch & Jr Gold Individual Award. On May 17 and 18, Shane Biser, Gabriella Brauning, Bradley Brauning, and Gavin Schlichtenmyer each shot in the Saturday Singles event at the TCSC Annual ATA Strawberry Shoot.
As this paper goes to print, the group will be participating in their last and final shoot this weekend. Stay tuned for updates in the next issue.
Trapshooting is a competitive sport where participants use shotguns to shoot at clay targets launched from a trap machine.
