Thurmont Addiction Commission
Free Event at Catoctin High School
The Thurmont Addiction Commission (TAC) invites the public to a free event
on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the Catoctin High School Auditorium.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., there will be a special showing of the production
Introduction to the Enemy. In addition, nationally renowned Hip-Hop recording
artist B-RAiN will perform. This event will give a valuable perspective to
substance addiction and help to generate dialogue within your family.
Imagine if addiction could enter a room and address a group of people.
Introduction to the Enemy is a performance that goes beyond imagination.
For decades, this performance has been privately performed in a treatment
setting, but this limited engagement will allow you to experience it for yourself.
Do not miss this opportunity to be introduced, for it is past time to truly
know the enemy that is addiction. This production is produced by Shannon
Garrett, who is a licensed counselor in Alcohol and Drug abuse and has been
in recovery for thirty-three years.
Rapper Brian McCall (aka B-RAiN) recently shared the stage with artists
Macklemore, Fitz and the Tantrums, and PVRIS. He performs around the
country to bring hope to the recovery community. His music inspires others to
travel the path of recovery, showing them that a clean mind and humble heart
makes recovery possible. He has been in recovery for over eleven years. Check
out his music at www.wearecloudgang.com.
This evening is an exciting opportunity for parents and young adults alike
to educate themselves about the very real and troubling topic of substance
abuse. However, this performance is not recommended for children under the
age of eleven.
The Thurmont Addiction Commission (TAC) addresses the disease of
addiction in our community, as a community. The mission of TAC is to fight
the disease of addiction through pragmatic, integrated efforts that span the
pillars of: education and awareness; prevention and outreach; and support
and recovery. TAC addresses the disease of addiction by supporting proactive
prevention and intervention strategies and by providing resources and support
for community members across all phases of recovery.
The evening is sponsored by Austin Addiction and Mental Health, Catoctin
PTSA, and The Music is the Medicine Foundation. ads @ thecatoctinb anner .com
