Thurmont’s National Night Out

The annual Thurmont “National Night Out” was held at the Thurmont Police Department. The crowd was much larger than last year, with more exhibits from organizations. Scouts set up a tent, Lion Mike Irons had his “Sweet Treats” ice cream truck, and Lion David Crum had a Woodsboro Bank table with information about bank operations.
Again this year, the Thurmont Lions Club had a free raffle for “LEO the LION.” There were tickets given to many individuals. You had to be present at 7:30 p.m. to win LEO. About a dozen individuals were present for the drawing. Their strategy had to change at the last minute. They also had candy bowls, small lion erasers, and small fuzzy lions as giveaways. Literature and membership material, along with applications, were handed out.
