Thurmont’s Emergency Signup

The Town of Thurmont, in conjunction with the Thurmont Police Department, Frederick County Emergency Management, and the Guardian Hose Company, is working on plans to implement an audible warning system in Thurmont to alert residents of weather emergencies or other critical news. The recent tragic flooding events in Texas have brought the need for this audible alert system to the top of their list of priorities.

Logistical meetings are ongoing, and a plan of action is expected to be in place in the upcoming months. The first step in this process is to make sure you are signed up for the Emergency Alert System. All critical messages about weather emergencies, power outages, street closures, and so forth are broadcast to this system. To sign up, visit www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/Alert.

Emergency broadcasts specific to Thurmont residents are sent to everyone signed up for “Town of Thurmont.” You can also sign up for several different weather emergency alerts from the same site.

If you need assistance in signing up, feel free to contact the Municipal Offices at 301-271-7313. The town also plans to hold several public outreach events in the community to encourage everyone to sign up.
