Squadron 239 Sons of the American Legion in Cascade Present Donation to Operation Second Chance

On Saturday, December 20, 2025, members of Squadron 239 Sons of the American Legion in Cascade visited Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock to present a donation to Operation Second Chance. Squadron 239 is very active in the community, annually raising more than $50,000 to donate to veterans and various community organizations. To raise this money, the squadron runs bingo (open to the public) at Post 239 on the first Sunday of most months.

Operation Second Chance (OSC) is a veterans charity based in Germantown, Maryland. OSC operates the 275-acre Heroes Ridge at Raven Rock, located in Sabillasville, as a retreat center for veterans and their families. Retreats are all-inclusive and are provided free of charge.  In addition to providing retreats, OSC provides financial aid, groceries, formula, and diapers to veterans and their families in need.

OSC plays a major role in preventing veterans’ suicides. On average, 22 veterans take their lives every day. OSC is a 501(c)3 charity and is always in need of volunteers or donations.  For more information on Operation Second Chance, visit https://operationsecondchance.org.
