A large crowd gathered in front of Sheetz in Thurmont as part of its ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the reopening on July 15. Included in the crowd were Sheetz staff, elected officials from the Town of Thurmont and Frederick County, as well as many local patrons, who were eager to take advantage of all-day free coffee and sodas offered as part of the festivities.

Delegate William Valentine, Frederick County Council Member Mason Carter, and Thurmont Mayor John Kinnaird all presented Sheetz with certificates to thank them for continuing to invest in the community.

The original store, built in 1994, had been closed for several months while it was completely demolished and replaced with a brand-new facility. The updated layout also allowed for the installation of additional gas pumps to help alleviate the long lines previously experienced during peak hours.

Shortly after the completion of the Thurmont renovation, Sheetz began a similar rebuild at its Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, location. While construction is underway there, no official reopening date has been announced.
