SES Students Earn Junior Naturalist Certificates

Seventh-grade students at Sabillasville Environmental School (SES) recently earned their Junior Naturalist Certificates as part of a new program launched with Fountain Rock Park & Nature Center in Walkersville. Tim Olsen from Fountain Rock Park & Nature Center visited the school once a month for the past year and taught students about tree identification to reptiles.

Now that the students have earned their Junior Naturalist Certificate, they are able to serve as volunteers at Fountain Rock Park & Nature Center.

SES is a public charter school that serves Grades K-8 and is free and open to all Frederick County residents.

Students at Sabillasville Environmental School learn how to identify trees.

Reptiles was just one of the topics that was part of the Junior Naturalist Program.

Sabillasville Environmental students who completed their Junior Naturalist Certificates received t-shirts as they are now able to serve as volunteers at Fountain Rock Nature Center.
