SES Leo Club Collects Donations for Local Food Bank
Eighth-grade students at Sabillasville Environmental School (SES) recently collaborated with the Thurmont Lions Club to start a Leo Club, allowing the Lions Club members an opportunity to mentor and empower young leaders while fostering a commitment to community service.
The students, along with the help of their teacher, Mrs. Kate Best, planned, created flyers, and developed a competitive competition among classes to see who could donate the most non-perishable food items. Kindergarten collected the most items, with the entire school collecting nearly 800 items, which were donated to a local food bank.
