Lewistown United Methodist Church Supports SHP
The Lewistown United Methodist Church Mission’s Committee performed a community project to serve the international non-project organization, Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP). The organization builds free twin beds for children who do not have a bed, to keep them from sleeping on the floor. However, the organization does not provide blankets, sheets, pillows, or bedspreads.
The Lewistown United Methodist Church congregation was so generous in supporting the community service project. SHP has grown to 350 chapters, and they have built and delivered more than 250,000 beds to children in need. The church collected 17 pillows, 32 throw blankets, 2 bed protectors, and 35 complete sheet sets. A warm thank-you letter was received from SHP for the generous donation in helping to provide security and peace to the children. Reverend Mark Claiborne is the pastor of the Lewistown United Methodist Church.
