Lewistown Mountain View 4-H Club is the oldest 4-H club in Frederick County that continues to grow and add diversity with its members projects.

On January 28, 2025, the club held its first meeting of new year. During this meeting, the club installed its new officer team that will lead the club to success with all activities, including volunteer activities, community service, workshops, picnics, and members supporting each other with their projects. The new officer team is as follows: President Ada Spencer; Vice President Abigail Shriner; Secretary Tabrie Garner; Treasurer Kountry Bell; Corresponding Secretary Kiah Spencer; Reporter Kiley Little; Historians, Chase and Paige Riggs; and Recreational Leaders, Myla Spencer, Rhett Axline, Elizabeth Schubel, Autumn Sweeny, and Colton Wood.

In this first meeting of the year, five new members of Lewistown Mountain View 4-H Club were introduced, all with diversity in their individual projects. For the year, the club decided to expand its community service projects, beginning with the collection of food for a donation to the Thurmont Food Bank, which will be delivered by Cheryl Lenhart the current club leader.  The Thurmont Main Street Sweep was introduced to the club as a possible community service project by Marisa Moser Little, economic development assistant for the Town of Thurmont. The Main Street Sweep is a project held in collaboration with the Thurmont Green Team. This event will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. This project will include cleaning the sidewalks of debris and trash in the main street district of Thurmont.

Cheryl Lenhart spoke about different speakers coming to the meetings to help expand the knowledge of the 4-H club members.  Ideas were suggested of a public speaking expert, the Scales and Tails Programs, and the different livestock judging teams through Frederick County to help the 4-H members grow and learn about potential opportunities within the 4-H program in Frederick County.

The meeting concluded with all the dates, times, and locations of the future meetings for the year being discussed. These dates show that the Lewistown Mountain View 4-H Club is hitting the ground running in 2025 with its members and activities.
