FCPS Honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Award Recipients
Alisha Yocum
Each year, Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr through a ceremony at Thomas Johnson High School.
Dr. King, a minister and civil rights leader, devoted his life to the fight for equality and justice, advocating for social change through nonviolent protest. His leadership played a pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement, including the passage of landmark legislation such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
On January 15, one student from each school across Frederick County was recognized during the ceremony. These students were selected by their principals for exemplifying characteristics championed by Dr. King, including leadership, courage, respect, and kindness.
Congratulations to the students from the Catoctin feeder schools, which are shown below. Continue being an example for our community!
