Emmitsburg Resident Opens Mobile Dog Grooming Business

Woofie’s of Frederick, a provider of mobile pet grooming, dog walking, and pet-sitting services, celebrated its grand opening during Frederick’s 250th Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4, at Baker Park. During the event, the company handed out complimentary emergency pet wallet cards while supplies last.
The wallet cards are designed to provide first responders and caregivers with important information about pets during emergencies.
Christy Turner launched the business to combine her lifelong passion for animals with her entrepreneurial experience. Turner, who spent childhood summers in Emmitsburg and is restoring her family’s 1910 farmhouse there, returned to the area after a 28-year career in human resources, customer experience, product management, marketing, information technology and telecommunications.
The business offers mobile pet grooming through a fully equipped grooming van, along with dog walking, pet sitting and other in-home pet care services throughout Frederick County. Clients also have access to real-time GPS tracking, service updates, photos and scheduling through the Woofie’s mobile app.
“Our customers care about their pets passionately,” Turner said. “We want clients to trust us not only as pet care professionals, but as neighbors. Training and education are a core part of what we do, with the safety of both pets and our team being paramount.”
Turner, who operates the business alongside her adult sons, Christian and William, is Pet Tech trained and works directly with clients. The company’s team members undergo background checks and receive professional training to recognize potential health and safety concerns while caring for pets.
Founded in 2004, Woofie’s began franchising in 2018 and is the first pet care franchise to combine pet sitting, dog walking, and mobile pet spa services under one brand. Today, the company operates more than 80 locations across the United States.
