Emmitsburg 50+ Center

BY Caitlyn Kirby

Find something new for you to do this September at the Emmitsburg 50+ Community Center. We have something for everyone, whether you are looking for fitness, education, arts and crafts, or recreation.

On September 9, at 4:00 p.m., we will host a free Retirement and Estate Planning Seminar, hosted by a Certified Financial Planner. This workshop will guide you through the essentials of planning for retirement, managing your retirement income, protecting your savings, and ensuring your wishes are honored with up-to-date estate planning. Please contact the center to pre-register for this event.

For the crafty this month, we will be making a beaded plant on September 10 ($5.00), making an easy craft for dollar craft day on September 16, and having a “Birds & Birch Trees” Acrylic class on September 18 ($15.00).

We will also be taking a trip to the Great Frederick Fair on September 17 ($10.00)! Enjoy all the animals, exhibits, and food from the fair without having to worry about transportation and parking.

Fitness programs also continuing this month are the free daily exercise to video at 9:15 a.m. and Unrulies Pickleball on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1:00 p.m. We also have Chair Yoga with Christina on Mondays at 1:00 p.m. Try your first class for free;  after that, drop in for just $4.00 per class.

As always, join us for Monday lunch bunch every week at noon. Enjoy a nutritious meal and chatting with friends. We also have lunch out at a local restaurant once a month, happening this month on September 24 (call the center for the restaurant). We always have space for games as well. If you have a group who would like to play at the center, or want to start one, please let me know!

We hope to see you at a program this month! To pre-register for any of these programs, please contact the center at 301-600-6350 or emmitsburgseniorcenter@frederickcountymd.gov.
