Emmitsburg 50+ Center

January was a cold one, but we were still able to stay warm and have fun indoors! In January, we beat the winter blues with our lunch bunch, a time to talk and laugh with friends. We were able to relax during chair yoga class, get creative in the stained-glass lab, and learn new board games.

In February, we have some exciting programs coming up! Starting with the Craft Swap on February 1 (upstairs in the Gym), which will be a time to “shop” to refresh your craft stash. We’ll also have a Valentine’s Puzzle Heart Craft on February 6. On Monday, February 10, our talented instructor, Dorothea, will be back to teach a Pet Portrait Drawing Class, where you can immortalize your furry friend. On Valentine’s Day, we’ll celebrate with lunch and a performance by Elvis Tribute Artist, Taylor Brown!

We also have some educational opportunities coming up in February. Author James Rada, Jr. will be here to present about the The Grand Reunion of the Battle of Gettysburg on February 18.

Maryland Legal Aid will be here to inform us about getting important documents in order and renter’s rights, followed by walk-in intakes for their services, on February 19.

Frederick Health will join us on February 24 to spread vital information about heart health.

For a copy of the calendar, stop by the senior center located at 300 S. Seton Avenue (lower level) or visit our website at frederickcountymd.gov/virtual50. We would love to see you at one of our upcoming programs.
