Catoctin Youth Association Soccer Club (CYASC) Wraps Up Successful Spring Season
Jimmy Ward, CYA Soccer Director of Coaching
The Catoctin Youth Association Soccer Club (CYASC) officially wrapped up a successful 2025 spring season, and with it came countless moments of connection, development, and community pride. More than just wins and losses, this season was defined by the smiles on the field, the support in the stands, and the growth—both personal and athletic—among players, coaches, and families alike.
With 157 players participating across divisions ranging from our Pee Wee program (for 3 and 4 year olds) all the way to U14, the club was proud to field teams under names like the Mountaineers, Cougars, Renegades, Wildcats, Warriors, Mayhem, Outlaws, Thunder, Lightning, and Cougar Cubs. Each team demonstrated incredible progress from the first whistle of practice to the final games of their season-ending tournaments.
This spring also marked the continued expansion of the club’s competitive opportunities. Teams participated in both the URSL and URSLMD leagues, and, for the first time, our U8 divisions joined a local league supported by the Smithsburg community, creating even more chances for development and local camaraderie.
One of the season’s true highlights was the continued sense of togetherness that filled Eyler Park week after week. Players from Thurmont, Sabillasville, Emmitsburg, Cascade, Blue Ridge Summit, Rocky Ridge, Lewistown, Frederick, and surrounding areas came together—not just as teammates, but as friends. The fields became more than just a place to play; they became a hub for learning life lessons, forming bonds, and building confidence.
And the energy isn’t slowing down. CYASC is proud to host a free summer soccer clinic every Wednesday evening at Eyler Park. These open clinics are designed to keep kids active and engaged throughout the summer, welcoming both new players looking to try something different and experienced players looking to sharpen their skills. The focus extends beyond the game, encouraging sportsmanship, leadership, and positive community involvement. Families can even look forward to a few local vendors at upcoming clinics, offering sweet treats and meals to round out the evening.
None of this would be possible without the dedicated parents, guardians, and volunteers who give their time, energy, and heart to support our mission. From coaching on the sidelines to helping guide the club as board members, your impact is felt in every smile and every success story. Thank you for making this season one to remember.
