Catoctin Softball Hosts Emma Baker Memorial County All-Star Tournament

Catoctin Rec Softball was delighted to host the Emma Baker Memorial County All-Star Tournament on Saturday, June 6. Over 200 of the county’s best softball players and their families descended upon Thurmont for a day of games at the East End Park complex. Teams from Araby, Walkersville, LOUYAA, Middletown, Urbana, Libertytown, Catoctin, and Frederick came to compete and enjoy the day to honor one of their own.

Emma was a student at Catoctin High School and an avid softball player who played for Catoctin Rec Softball before she passed away in 2012 at age 14 after a battle with brain cancer. To this day, Catoctin players honor her memory by wearing Emma’s number 10 on their jerseys. Emma’s parents, Suede and Cathy Baker, were on hand to welcome the teams and throw out the opening pitch.

The 15U players from around the county receive their medals after the Championship game.
