Robert “Bob” Black (pictured right), owner of Catoctin Mountain Orchard, was recently honored with the International Fruit Tree Association (IFTA) Hall of Fame Award at their 68th Annual Conference in Rochester, New York.

The organization of 450 members honored Black with this award.

“Bob exemplifies the dedication and passion that define this honor. As a longtime IFTA board member, a committed research committee participant, and an active presence at countless meetings, Bob has consistently shared his expertise and insights with fellow members. His willingness to engage, mentor, and advocate for both the industry and our organization has left an indelible mark on IFTA,” said Sheri Nolan with IFTA.

Black said receiving this award is one of the highlights of his life. While Black has had many accolades throughout his career, he says this one is especially meaningful because of the caliber of the organization. “This association includes the top [fruit tree growers] in not only the country, but the world.”
