Here’s to wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable 4th of July.

National Hire a Veteran Day is July 25. Veterans bring competitive skills to civilian jobs, along with core values cultivated by Military Service. To learn more about this day, check out the website at veteran.com/hire-a-veteran-day.

In June, we held an installation of new officers in the Legionnaires, Sons, and Auxiliary. So, come out and support your new officers for the 2025-2026 year: Legionnaires—third Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.; SAL—first Tuesday every other month (even months) at 7:00 p.m.; Auxiliary—third Monday at 7:00 p.m.

We are always looking for new ideas. Please start the new year (July 1) by attending as many meetings as you can and sharing your ideas or just helping with the events we have going on. Get more involved for our Veterans!

The new membership year also begins July 1, 2025. The dues are: Legionnaires—$45.00; Sons of American Legion—over 21 years of age is $25.00/under 21 years of age is $15.00; Auxiliary—$35.00; Junior Auxiliary—$12.00. Dues will be accepted at the bar starting August 1, 2025. If you pay at the bar, you can get your card at the same time.

The Thurmont Legion Auxiliary presented the following students with scholarships to continue their education: Ashton Meritt, Kayla Delcid, Shaymus Stull, and Douglas Whitworth. Thurmont American Legion Post 168 presented socholarships to Alexandra Potter, Hoyt Saylar, Rebekah Zentz, and Douglas Whitworth. Sons of the American Legion Post 168 presented scholarships to Annalise Abruzzese, Lindsey Baker, and Kayla Delcid.
