American Legion Post 168, Thurmont

We had such a good turnout at the Legion Membership Picnic! Crabs, Chicken, Corn on the Cob, Crab Soup, and more were enjoyed by members and their guests. Remember to pay your dues by December 31, 2026, so that you can join us next year. Not a member? If you are a Veteran, stop by the Legion and pick up an application. If you are a Son of a Veteran or a Spouse, Daughter, Granddaughter, we have applications for you as well. Thanks to all who donated their $10.00 ticket refund to assist with shipping snacks to the Deployed Unit we have adopted.

Speaking of adoption, the Legionnaires, SAL, and Auxiliary have adopted a Military Unit that is deployed, and we are actively collecting snacks through February and hoping to ship them monthly. Items include, but are not limited to, jerky, energy bars, protein bars, microwavable Easy Mac, Cup of Noodles, and candy (no chocolate). Drop your donations off daily, from noon to 10:00 p.m. There is a collection bin in the lobby and various businesses around town: Beautiful You Salon and Spa (Lori Shank), Bollinger’s, Intowne Barber Shop, and Kountry Kitchen, to name a few.

Octoberfest is quickly approaching! Once again, the Legion will have vendors on our property, so come check out what they have. The kitchen will be open with a special Octoberfest menu, plus a Beer Garden to rest at during your shopping! The Auxiliary will have a snack shop, so there will be something for everyone! As with any event, volunteers are needed to help things run smoothly. We are having a new event this year! A Military Ball will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to midnight. This will be a semi-formal event, with guest speakers, music and dancing, and a cash bar. Check out the advertisement on page 5 for more details.
