(Sonny) Bowers Jr.

A private celebration of life remembering Claude Samuel (Sonny) Bowers
Jr. was held on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Sonny was born in Hanover, PA, on
December 8, 1962, and passed away in Hanover Hospital on April 20, 2018. He
was the son of Claude S. (Connie) Bowers Sr. of Littlestown, PA, and Barbara
(Leroy “Smitty”) Smith of Thurmont, MD.
Sonny lived in Taneytown, MD, for twenty-some years before moving to
Colorado. He stayed in Colorado, where he was in management with Burger King,
gas stations, and apartment complexes. Sonny moved to Littlestown, PA, in May
2017. Sonny had a lot of complications due to diabetes. He is survived by two
sisters: Tammy Bowers of Colorado and Michelle (Russ) Silverman of Marysville,
PA; four nephews: Chuck Bowman and Robert (Jenna) Bowman of Thornton, CO,
Bruce Cunningham of Colorado Springs, CO, and Samuel Silverman of Lancaster,
PA; one niece: Rachel Silverman of Marysville, PA. He is also survived by his
aunts: Waneta Powell, Doris Dougherty, Sarah (Dick) Stambaugh, Pat (Dave)
Flohr, all of Thurmont; Jane (Dave) Uhler of PA; two uncles: Richard (Mary)
Frounfelter of Westminster, MD, and Jack (Nancy) Nunemaker of Emmitsburg,
MD; special friends: Andy, Joella, Eric, and his precious “special needs” pal,
Marlelina. Sonny also had a very special fur-baby, Freda. Sonny was predeceased
by his paternal grandparents, Ben and Pauline Bowers of Taneytown; maternal
grandparents, John and Mary Nunemaker of Thurmont; several aunts, uncles, and
others.
Sonny will be greatly missed. He will be remembered in love. The family
