               Tickling Our Tastebuds

                by Denise Valentine

Hello, everyone. I’m making my “last ditch effort” to encourage you to
enter at the Thurmont & Emmitsburg Community Show. The dates are
September 7-9. Entries are accepted Thursday, September 6, from 6:00-
            9:00 p.m., and Friday, September 7, from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
I am sharing one of my favorite cookie recipes this month. Give them
a try and save six to bring to the Community Show. I use the recipe found
in Betty Crocker’s Cookbook and it is a family favorite.
I hope you have a chance to visit the Community Show this year.
You would be surprised how many people have lived in this area for
many years and have never been. This would be a great year to start a
family tradition. Bring the youngsters to see the many animals that are
exhibited for competition and the Petting Zoo for hands-on fun. Adults
will find the many commercial displays interesting, as well as all the
entries in the main gym and the Ag shop. Visit the food vendors and
support local non-profit organizations. Hope to see you there!
