            Recognized at 35  Annual CTC                                               Character

            Awards Program                                                                Frederick County Public Schools received the news that Catoctin High School
                                                                                       is named a National School of Character. The nonprofit Character.org evaluates
               Congratulations to the Catoctin High School students recognized at      character initiatives in schools and communities around the world. Catoctin is

            Teacher Academy – Achievement; Thomas Gipe—Environmental Landscape            The recognition was announced at the May 18 conference of the New Jersey
            Management – Academic Excellence; Molly Harbaugh—Environmental             Alliance for Social, Emotional, and Character Development at Rider University.
            Landscape Management – Academic Excellence; Stephanie Mo-reland—           Each year, Character.org and its state affiliates certify schools that demonstrate

            FCPS Announces Last Day of School
               Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) has announced that the last day of
            this school year for students is Friday, June 15. Schools will dismiss students
            two hours early on that day for a teacher work session.
               The last day of the school year for teachers is Monday, June 18. The
            schedule assumes there will be no further days closed due to inclement weather.
               FCPS closed five days due to inclement weather in the 2017-2018 school
            year.
               The 2018-2019 school year will begin Tuesday, September 4, 2018, for
            students, with teachers returning on Friday, August 24. Fall sports begin
            Wednesday, August 8, 2018. For additional information, please visit www.fcps.
