                 mon t h                                                               just a number, after all, and our goal at the Senior Center is to keep our bodies
                                                                                       moving, our minds engaged, and to meet and socialize with others.
                                                                                          Lunch is offered every day at 11:30 a.m. for a small fee, and we only ask
                                                                                       that you pre-register with our Coordinator Linda Umbel two days prior to
                                                                                       your attendance, by calling 301-600-6350.
                                                                                          You’ll have to work up an appetite for lunch, so let’s talk exercise. Most
                                                                                       of us can’t say we enjoy it, but let’s face it: we need and should be doing
                                                                                       something to keep our bodies moving. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, from
                                                                                       10:00-11:00 a.m., there is a wonderful video strength training program using
                                                                                       weights of your choice. You won’t even break a sweat. But, if that’s what you
                                                                                       prefer, you can join Bowling on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. (cost of game and
                                                                                       shoes); join a Tai Chi class on Fridays, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. ($30.00 fee for ten
                                                                                       weeks); play Pickleball on Wednesdays, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.; and Wii sports.
                                                                                       There’s something for everyone!
                                                                                          Come to the Senior Center at 11:00 a.m. before lunch for some great talks.
                                                                                       There are so many things we don’t know about events and services provided
                                                                                       for us in Frederick County. We recently learned about pre-planning our funeral
                                                                                       in order to relieve our families of that burden and to accommodate our own
                                                                                       special wishes. We’ve learned important information to have on hand if we
                                                                                       need to have emergency services, and we’ve also learned details about the
                                                                                       Transit System in our area.
                                                                                          The first Tuesday of each month is a presentation by Maryland Access Point
                                                                                       (MAP) on a variety of subjects, including in November: “Who and What is
                                                                                       Hospice?” The third Tuesday is always a health talk by our favorite nurse,
                                                                                       Nurse Steve. In November: “Are Vitamins and Over-the-Counter Supplements
                                                                                       Harmless?” Can’t wait for that one!
                                                                                          Some of us are caregivers or have an aging relative who could use a
                                                                                       change in routine. The last Tuesday of the month you are invited to bring
                                                                                       that someone and yourself to
                                                                                       our Memory Café. Lunch will be
                                                                                       provided, but please call Linda and
                                                                                       register. A small craft project will be
                                                                                       provided for everyone to do as well.
                                                                                          But we’re not finished, yet!
                                                                                       There are cards and other games

                                                                                       happy place or lounge chair. Even
                                                                                       if you’ve forgotten the rules, we
                                                                                       would love to help you relearn—no
                                                                                       game is too complicated. So, stay
