“Respect the Game” Sportsmanship The Maryland Storm 12U team placed second in the Armed Forces Day
Video SluggerFest, held on May 16-17, 2015. They were runner-up to Diamond Skill
Dodgers, with a score of 10-6.

and Boys Lacrosse were all selected to have a student-athlete representative
filmed for a Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) “Respect the Game”
Sportsmanship video. The video footage was filmed at Catoctin High School in
April 2015, and will be completed and released in late May. The video will be
featured on www.fcps.org and Channel 18. Additionally, schools will be asked
to show the video at “Meet the Coaches Nights” and “Back to School Nights.”
The following student-athletes were chosen to represent CHS in their first-
ever “Respect the Game” Sportsmanship video: Girls’ Field Hockey—Leah
Tester; Girls’ Volleyball—Ashlee Leib; Girls’ Lacrosse—Lydia Spalding; Boys’
Lacrosse—Matt Benjamin.
Sportsmanship is a critical part of the interscholastic athletic experience
for student-athletes in Frederick County Public Schools and the new Central
Maryland Conference. All student-athletes are expected to respect the game, no
matter which sport they are competing in.
“Our hope is that everyone will support all FCPS student-athletes, as we
create a culture committed to excellence in academics, athletics, and character
development,” said FCPS Supervisor of Athletics & Extracurricular Activities
Kevin Kendro.
