Pumpkin Challenge
Mayors John Kinnaird (pictured left) of Thurmont and Frank Davis (pictured right) of Emmitsburg face off in a friendly challenge as residents compete to see which town can divert the most fall pumpkins from the landfill.
Thurmont’s 4th Annual Great Pumpkin Pick Up takes place Saturday, November 28. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., volunteers will pick up pumpkins placed on the curb and distribute them to area farms and The Catoctin Wildlife Preserve.
Emmitsburg residents will have the opportunity to place their pumpkins at the Community Garden, where they will be taken to farms or the Wildlife Preserve.
No matter what the numbers show, everyone wins in this challenge as we protect the environment and provide hungry farm animals with a tasty treat and Catoctin Wildlife Preserve animals with some fun toys to play with.
