1st VDG Service Challenge

The 1st VDG Service Challenge will be part of the youth global cause to provide young people with the support they need to make positive choices. Moving from elementary school to middle school is a big step. The FVDG created the “Brave Bag” to remind the students that they are not alone and that they have the strength to succeed. All clubs in the district will prepare enough “Brave Bags” to cover the students in their community.

A “Brave Bag” will be given to each student going from elementary school into the middle school. The bags will include a journal, pencil, pen, stress ball, and a card/note giving them words of encouragement.

The Emmitsburg (45), Lewistown (12), and Thurmont (103) schools all had students going into the middle school. Thurmont Middle School had its Open House on August 17, when the principal handed out the bags to the incoming elementary students. Thank you to Lion Joyce Anthony for delivering the “Brave Bags.”
