Beatrice E. Umbel

Beatrice E. Umbel, 92, of Emmitsburg, passed from this life on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Born on July 22, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Helen (Eyler) and Wilbur T. Umbel.

Bea enjoyed working at The Palms Restaurant and playing Keno at the Ott House. She also enjoyed countless hours of Yahtzee and card games with family and friends. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She especially adored her great-grandsons. 

Bea is survived by her daughter, Anne Benjamin and husband Dick; grand-daughters, Lindsay Fuss and husband Jeremy, Cyndi Miller and husband Larry; great-grandsons, Ethan Fuss and Maddox Miller; brothers, Austin Umbel and wife Linda, David Umbel, Jim Umbel and wife Jean, Clarence Umbel and wife Sharon, Bill Umbel and wife Joan; sister, Ruth Clarke; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Umbel; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Bea was preceded in death by sister, Carolyn Clarke and husband Paul; brother Jack Umbel; brother-in-law, Pat Clarke; and sister-in-law, Patsy Umbel.

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, located at 210 W. Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD 21727. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
