by Tara Miller
Hello, friends! It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of another wonderful year here at the Thurmont Senior Center. December is shaping up to be full of fun, friendship, and festive activities, and I hope you’ll join us for the joy and laughter that make this season so special!
We’ll kick off the month with Bingo on December 3 and December 17. Come test your luck, share some laughs, and maybe go home with a prize or two. If you enjoy getting creative, don’t miss our Holiday Craftin’ in the Catoctins sessions on December 11 and December 18. It’s the perfect way to make handmade gifts or festive décor while enjoying great company.
We’re also excited to introduce a new weekly activity: Mexican Train Dominoes every Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Bring a friend, enjoy some snacks, and join the fun.
And don’t forget our new favorite tradition: Manicure Mondays! Join us from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for a little pampering and polish. Appointments are free, but space is limited, so be sure to call ahead to reserve your spot.
Our Daily Exercise Classes continue every weekday at 10:15 a.m. and are free to everyone. Staying active and connected is the best gift you can give yourself this holiday season.
We’re also offering a few special opportunities this month:
Digital Learning Day on December 18, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Learn how to better use your phone, tablet, or computer, a great way to stay in touch with family and friends!
Get a seated chair massage on December 18. Relax and unwind with a mini massage for just $1.00 per minute.
And don’t miss our Bake Sale Fundraiser at Roy Rogers on December 11! Stop by for a sweet treat and help support our programs. It’s a delicious way to make a difference.
We also want to take a moment to say thank you to Sally Joyner Giffin and Karen Younkins for their dedication and energy in leading our classes throughout the year. Your enthusiasm helps keep us all moving, smiling, and motivated!
Please note our holiday closures: Closed on December 24-26 (Lunch deliveries will still go out on Friday, December 26); Closed December 31, January 1, and January 2 (Lunch deliveries will still go out on Friday, January 2).
Thank you all for being a part of the Thurmont Senior Center family. Your smiles, laughter, and kindness fill this place with warmth all year long. Here’s to a joyful December and a bright, healthy New Year!
