Jamie’s Story

A Fight Against Breast Cancer

Anne scott

This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and my sister, Jamie Smith, is fighting Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC). This is a very aggressive type of breast cancer. Jamie had no lumps but started with a rash, and in no time, had swelling and redness, causing the breast to look inflamed. When first diagnosed, it is usually Stage 3 because the breast cancer cells have grown into the skin.

IBC can develop quickly, within three to six months. It accounts for 1-5 percent of all breast cancers.

Jamie’s journey began in January 2025, when she received six months of chemotherapy. It was physically and mentally the hardest thing she has ever done. After that, she will have a double mastectomy and nine rounds of immunotherapy. Jamie will then go back to the surgeon for a permanent breast reconstruction. Jamie’s friends and families have set up a Bingo fundraiser to help raise funds toward her medical expenses.

If you are able to support Jamie in her fight against Breast Cancer, please plan to attend. The details of the event can be found in the advertisement below..
