Emmitsburg 50+ Center
BY Caitlyn Kirby
The holiday season is upon us! We have many ways at the Emmitsburg 50+ Center to help you celebrate the season. In December, we begin the month with a “Winter Snow Scene” in Acrylic Class on December 2. Our talented instructor, Dorothea Barrick, will guide us to make our own unique creation. Last month, we enjoyed her class on drawing a harvest still life. Next, on December 12, we will be making spiced ornaments (be sure to sign up in advance)! Then, on December 19, we’ll enjoy a holiday movie while sipping some hot cocoa.
While the holiday season can bring lots of happiness, it can also bring a lot of stress. On December 16, a licensed therapist with the Health Dept. will join us for a presentation and discussion about how to cope with the holidays and deal with family friction. In the meantime, meeting with friends is a great way to brighten your mood. We have lunch bunch at the senior center every Monday. We also meet on Wednesday afternoons for “Crafternoon,” a time to bring your lunch and craft to work on with friends.
We are thankful to you for making 2024 a great year! Make your New Year’s resolution to get involved in your local senior center, whether it be through our fitness, crafts, lunch, or social programs.
