Sara Taylor Miller

October 31, 1941 to August 27, 2024

Sara Taylor Miller, 82, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024,  at York Wellspan Hospital, York, Pennsylvania. Born October 31, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland, Sara always enjoyed the magical, whimsical, and “witchiness” the Halloween celebration exudes, along with an affinity for Star Trek and its memorabilia, as well as colorful butterflies. Her family moved to Emmitsburg during the mid-1950s, where her mother opened a Tailor shop on Main Street. Sara was a part of the Emmitsburg High School class of 1959, then attended Salisbury State College for a time, pursuing early education.

Once married she moved to Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, then to Shady Side, Maryland, until 1979 when she moved back to Emmitsburg. She worked for the Office of Planning and Zoning for the town of Emmitsburg for 14 years, Hechinger’s in Frederick, and retired from Fitzgerald Auto Mall.

Later in life, Sara enjoyed discussing the latest shenanigans of the daytime “soap operas” with her sister, Regina, who predeceased her in June 2024.

Sara is survived by her sons, Kevin (Peggy) and Martin (Carolyn); grandchildren, Colleen (Ryan), Shannon, and Joel; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Parker, Lakley, and Charlie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church, 10926 Simmons Road, Emmitsburg. Internment to follow on a later date at St. George’s Church, Pungoteague, Virginia.

Donations may be made to the Emmitsburg High School Scholarship Fund.
