            “King Awards” Presented to Outstanding Students

               Respect, kindness, integrity, and community leadership are some of the characteristics of the students honored during the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King,
            Jr. celebration on January 11, 2018, at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick. One student from each of the Frederick County Public Schools was
            chosen for this award. To earn the award, the student must have demonstrated positive leadership qualities characteristic of Dr. King, and exhibited the
            Character Counts! “Pillars” of responsibility, caring, fairness, trustworthiness, citizenship, and respect. The quotes below are from the nominations submitted
            by the staff at each of the schools in the Catoctin feeder area.

            Reghan Lee — Thurmont Primary School                                       Adrianna Cool — Sabillasville Elementary School

            part of the safety-patrol team. Hunter is a role model to all of his classmates.
            Hunter is always very respectful and polite to adults and peers. You will find
            him greeting people with a smile in the hallways. He is always kind with his
            words and actions. He has integrity and strives to do the right thing, even
            when no one is looking. Hunter is always willing to help with any tasks in
            the classroom. Hunter is trustworthy and can always be counted on to be
            honest about any situation. He works diligently to excel in academic work and
            perseveres through any academic task.”
