We can never even begin to express the gratitude we feel for each and every
one of you. The last month has been filled with fear, change, tears—but, most
of all, tears of joy and love.
On December 13, 2017, when we lost our home, our cat, and our memories to
a house fire, we never imagined that a month later, we would be filled with such
love. Because of all of you, a six year old little girl was still able to have a happy
Christmas. Because of all of you, we have a roof over our heads, food in our
fridge, and clothes on our backs. Because of all of you, we have hope and love in
our hearts that no disaster can ever take away from us. It is priceless and we will
hold onto it forever.
To all of you who helped save and change our lives, thank you from the
bottom of our hearts. You are heroes.
~ Love, Mary and Ashley Mutter

Growing up, Becky (Kreitz) Flohr’s son, John Flohr, Jr. and nephew, Jimmy
Christmas P ar ty Miller, would go up to the Grotto of Lourdes to play. They lived on Kelbaugh
Road.
The descendants of Roy and Helen Wivell held their annual Christmas Photo Courtesy of Becky (Kreitz) Flohr
Party at Mother Seton School in Emmitsburg on December 31, 2017.
Attendance was 147. The family now totals 601. Helen Reaver welcomed
everyone and read “thank you” from the local food bank and Mother Seton
School for the 2016 party. Cathy Yoder led the blessing. Linda Kahley gave
an update on the family for 2017: three births, eight marriages, seven step-
children, and two deaths: Mary (Orndorff) Wivell and Mary (Northrup)
Wolfe.
Congratulations were given to those celebrating their wedding
anniversaries on a five-year basis: 25 years — Tom and Bev, Mark and Karen,
James and Jill; 30 years — Eric and Annette, William and Loraine; 35 years —
Janet and Carmel; 40 years — Ed and Cindy, Mike and Karen; 55 years — Phil
and Therese; 60 years — Tom and Mary Joe.
There were thirty-six door prizes enjoyed by the winners (too many to
mention their names).
Next, the great, great grandchildren portrayed the Nativity scene, directed
by Cathy Yoder and Kelly Wivell: St. Joseph – Sammy Parsons; Mary –
Erykah D’Amico; and Jesus (the crowd sang “Away in a Manger”); shepherds
– Madison and Autumn Kuhn, Elysah D’Amico; angels – Madison Myers,
Kaylee Naff, Elijaah D’Amico (the crowd sang “Angels We Have Heard on
High”); wise men – Adam Kuhn, Landon Wivell, and Cole Merriman.
The family gave monetary donations to two different couples with children
who have medical problems, and a donation of canned goods, etc. was donated
to a food bank.
There were many delicious casseroles and goodies enjoyed by all. Gifts
were given to the great-great grandchildren. As always, the family wishes a
holy, happy, healthy New Year.
~ God Bless America, Helen Reaver
