Emmitsburg Thanksgiving Day
Turkey Trot

Turkey Trot was held on
Thanksgiving morning,
November 22, 2018, in the
Emmitsburg Community
Park. The event was hosted
by the Emmitsburg Business
Professionals Organization
(EBPA) and sponsored by
several local businesses,
including Emmitsburg
Glass, Emmitsburg Tattoo
Company, E Plus Graphics
& Promotions, McDonald’s,
Jubilee Foods, Carriage House Inn, Briggs Associates, Alice Kabatt, and
Catoctin Mountain Orchard. Thanks to participants, the community, and
sponsors for a fun and successful event.
The winners were: ages 17 and under—gobblers (men) John Whitcomb
and Alex Contreras (tied) at 32.50, hens (women) Morgan Dennison; ages
18 to 64—gobblers David Dorsey fastest time at 30.47, hens Brenna Whisler
time at 37.08; ages 65 and over—gobblers Peter Strople, hens Katie Carroll.

2018 Shred Event
On Saturday November 3, 2018, The Thurmont Police Department, Town
of Thurmont, and Woodsboro Bank held a second Shred Event for 2018. This
Shred Event was another success. Over 9,000 pounds of paper was collected
and a truck load of donations was received for the Thurmont Food Bank.
“I would like to thank our co-sponsor Woodsboro Bank, Town of
Thurmont, and Mayor Kinnaird for helping with Saturday’s event,” said Lt.
P.A. Droneburg, Deputy Chief of Police, Thurmont Police Department.
The next Shred Event is scheduled for Saturday April 20, 2019, from 8:00
a.m.-noon.
