Hello, everyone! Here we go again…if you follow my monthly messages, I’m

to the area or maybe you just haven’t had a chance to participate: it’s Community
Show time! Yes, I know…you are thinking “How can it have been a year gone by
already?” It seems that we were just talking about the Thurmont & Emmitsburg
Community Show just a few months ago. Time sure does fly by.
Each year, I use the August and September issues to share a simple recipe for
you to try to enter in the show. This month, I am sharing a recipe for corn bread.
Put September 8-10 on your calendar. I hope to see you there.
Corn Bread
Ingredients
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour 1 cup yellow corn meal
½ cup sugar 2 eggs
4 tsp. baking powder 1 cup milk
¾ tsp. salt ½ cup shortening
Directions
Sift flour with sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in corn meal.
Add eggs, milk, and shortening. Beat with rotary or electric
beater just until smooth.
Pour into greased 9x9x2 inch pan.
Bake at 425 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
