Honoring Our Veterans on Veterans Day
Many local events took place honoring our Veterans on Veterans
Day, thanking them for their service to our country, including a Veterans
Day Open House at the Thurmont Senior Center. The event featured the
AMVETS Color Guard, the National Anthem played by the Gateway Brass
Ensemble, lunch, a heartfelt WWII Honor Flight video presentation, and
so much more. Special guest Priscilla Rall of the Frederick County Veterans
History Project talked about her book about local WWI Veterans.
The American Legion Post 121 Honor Guard made their annual rounds
to area cemeteries to play tribute to the Veterans buried in them. The
Trinity United Church of Christ held their annual Veterans Day special
program, and the Hoke Family celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the
th
signing of the WWI Armistice and the family’s annual tradition of ringing
the church bells in Emmitsburg.
Our apologies if we left out any services or events from our list or if we
have errors in regard to the information we did receive.
