This school year, the Catoctin High School (CHS) Leo Club will be meeting
monthly, every second Thursday, but are already off and “roaring” to a good
start. Leos stayed after school in September to make posters and decorate
collection boxes for their current project to raise money for hurricane victims.
They will be collecting during lunch periods. Don’t be surprised if you see CHS
Leos with a collection box as you arrive to any of its upcoming Thurmont
Lions Club meetings.
This past summer, CHS Leos sold “Leo Club Ice Cream” during the
Thurmont Lions Club “Summer Pit Beef Sandwich Sales” fundraising events.
The club raised over $250 for its activity fund. They would like to thank the
Thurmont Lions for this fundraising opportunity. Special thanks also to Lion
Don Keeney and Lion Doug Favorite for arranging to set up the trailer at Bell
Hill Farms and, more importantly, providing the freezer for the ice cream!
CHS Leos helped out at the Thurmont Lions fundraiser as food runners
during the Thurmont & Emmitsburg Community Show. They have just started
the school year and are roaring! The Leo Club’s recent fundraiser was during
