Celebrate Mother’s Day weekend in the historic village of Catoctin Furnace photography

“Catoctin Voices” Evening

NPS Ranger Bert Barnett junior, Kylie Norwood
Writer, historian, and Gettysburg National Military Park Ranger, Bert
Barnett, will be the featured poet at “Catoctin Voices,” an evening devoted
to poetry, on Friday, April 15, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at The Creeger House,
located at 11 N. Church Street in Thurmont. Poets and the public are invited
to participate in the open mic readings prior to Barnett’s reading. “Catoctin
Voices” meets the third Friday of every month and is devoted to highlighting

As a poet who has tackled many subjects with humor and gusto since
childhood, Barnett is devoted to his original Civil War poetry and has
integrated some of his work into interpretive and campfire programs at
the Gettysburg battlefield. He’s a 1984 graduate of Middle Tennessee State A Lonely Dog
University and holds a B.S. in History, with minors in English literature and
psychology. He has served over thirty years as a ranger with the National Park Written by Jean Sidoli of Fairfield, Pennsylvainia, as a letter to the editor of
