The Guardian Hose Company, Inc. would like to thank all the sponsors and golfers that made the James H. Mackley
Golf Day a success this year. The event was held on Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Maple Run Golf Course
in Thurmont. This year the winning team was Cecelia Smith, Leroy Smith, Larry Miller, and Ralph Smith. Second
place team was Gene Stitely, Gene Myers, Ray Adams, and John Estanich; tenth winning team was Donnie Stitely,
Christopher Stouter, Matthew Stouter, and Austin Frushour. Ladies Longest Drive was won by Arlene Metheny; Men’s
Longest Drive was won by Jim Levering, and Closest to the Pin was won by Jim Rice. Sorry to say but no hole in ones
were made on any of the big prize holes this year. Again, the Guardian Hose Company wants to thank all of the golfers
for supporting this event.
The following businesses and individuals sponsored this year’s event: Graceham Fire Department, Pondscapes,
Inc., The Mackley Family, Guardian Hose Company, Inc., Mountain View Lawn Services, Trout’s Supreme Seafood,
Thurmont Eye Care, LLC, Center of Life Chiropractic, Edwin C. Creeger Post 168, Town of Thurmont, James E.
Moser, Thurmont Community Ambulance Service, GT’s Catering, Frederick County Bank, Wolfsville Fire Department,
Wolf ’s Bus Lines, and a special thanks to Criswell Chevrolet of Thurmont for the sponsorship of all the large prizes at
the Par 3 holes.
The proceeds from the event will be used towards a scholarship for a graduating senior from Catoctin High School
this year. The person receiving the scholarship must be taking a course of study in the First Responder Area (Fire,
EMS, Police, Nursing, etc.). This year, the applications for the scholarship will be at the Guidance Office at Catoctin
High School in January 2016 and must be returned to Guardian Hose Company, Inc., 21 North Church Street,
Thurmont, MD 21788, no later than April 30, 2016. The winning scholarship will be awarded during the awards
ceremony for the seniors at the end of May 2016. The Guardian Hose Company will also be renewing the other
scholarships that have been given out in the past four years.
Once again, the Guardian Hose Company, Inc. thanks everyone for their support and we hope to see you next
September for our next Golf Day.
