Christmas in Thurmont is a magical time for so many reasons. As people fl ooded the streets to bring
holiday cheer and celebrate the season of giving, it was clear that events like this have woven the community
in Thurmont together. From Mayor Kinnaird as Santa Claus to the award-winning ESP Dance Troop
performance, laughs and smiles were shared and exchanged despite the less than ideal weather.
Christmas in Thurmont is an opportunity for locals to see friends and family and to donate and give to
children looking to enjoy the holidays and show off that new toy. Thurmont residents paraded through the
streets in the early hours of the day, and even as the rain moved in, it never diminished the energy or Christmas
cheer.
Children could be spotted running around Guardian Hose Company, laughing and chasing their friends,
as well as taking pictures with Santa. Over the years, the event has continued to have the warmth and
camaraderie that it has had ever since the very beginning. There is something offered for everyone at
community events like this, which makes it so important in bringing the community together for the annual
gift-giving season. The Christmas celebration was capped off with gift giveaways, often the most anticipated
part of the day. Children lined up across the fl oor of the Fire Hall, hoping to hear their name called to
choose a gift from among the rows of presents.
Amidst the commotion, kids and teens in the ESP Dance Troop captivated the audience, sliding and
pirouetting across the fl oor perfectly to the beat of the music.
