5th Annual Wounded Warrior Event Held new Restrictions in Place on Moser Road
at Camp Airy Bridge in Thurmont
Photo by Carol Burger New restrictions went into effect on the Moser Road Bridge in Thurmont
on Friday, June 5, 2015. These restrictions are being implemented pursuant
to recommendations identified in a recent bridge inspection. Weight limits
will be decreased from 25,000 pounds to 12,000 pounds for a single unit and
from 46,000 pounds to 21,000 pounds for a combination unit. In addition,
the travel lane of the bridge will be narrowed to a single lane only. A stop sign
will be in place on the west side of the bridge, immediately past the Thurmont
Regional Library. A yield sign will remain in place on the east side of the
bridge.
The Town of Thurmont is in the process of securing bids to replace
the bridge. Thurmont Mayor John Kinnaird stated, “We concur with the
recommended restrictions and are currently working on requests for proposals
to have the bridge replaced as soon as possible.”

Camp Airy in Thurmont hosted a Wounded Warrior event that was
sponsored and coordinated by members of the Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock Thurmont Grange Welcomes Three new
(BOJC) at the camp’s ponds on May 23, 2015. Members
Any wounded warrior and his or her family was invited to attend. Around
forty wounded warriors were present, some of them fished for the first time or Courtesy Photo
fished with a fly rod for the first time.
The BOJC assisted the anglers and also provided lunch that was cooked by
members of the Thurmont American Legion, along with a variety of donated
foods.

At the May 20, 2015, meeting of Thurmont Grange #409, three new
members were proudly welcomed. Grange Master Rodman Myers led their
induction, followed by refreshments and fellowship.
Members of the Catoctin FFA also gave a presentation at the Grange
meeting. The students shared their FFA projects and highlighted team
achievements for this year.
The Grange is an organization dedicated to serving their community and
promoting agriculture.
